DESCRIPTION:Hands-On Training for a Career as a Carpenter\nLearn to Earn. Learn by Doing. Learn a Trade! At Orleans Technical College\, you can earn your Trades Diploma in just 6 months and take the first step toward an exciting career in Carpentry. Our career training course is hands-on so that you gain the skills that employers are looking for! \nYou’ll learn construction\, installation\, and renovation skills for an array of opportunities—inside and out—working with wood and other materials. Students experience building a house to scale\, staircase\, and full-size deck\, as well as tackle framing\, drywall\, rough and fine finishing\, siding\, shingle roofing\, and door and window installation. \nFinancial aid is available for those who qualify. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to apply. A driver’s license is recommended to travel for jobs post-graduation. \nProgram Objective\nOrleans Tech’s Carpentry students learn hands-on new construction skills. They build a house to scale in order to learn framing\, drywall\, rough and fine finishing\, siding\, shingled roofing\, and door and window installation. Students construct a full size deck and staircase.
