At Orleans Technical College in Philadelphia\, you can complete your training in just 6 or 13 months and take the first step toward an exciting career in Building Maintenance. Our career training course is hands-on so that you gain the skills that employers are looking for! \nYou can develop a wide range of handy skills—from carpentry\, electrical\, plumbing\, A/C and heating to painting\, tiling and appliance repair—needed to maintain and renovate homes\, residential properties and commercial buildings. Orleans graduates can enter the field as a maintenance mechanic\, handling site operations\, in apartment complexes\, health care facilities\, and industrial establishments. \nFinancial aid is available for those who qualify. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to apply. A driver’s license is recommended to travel for jobs post-graduation. \nProgram Objective\nOrleans Tech’s Building Maintenance program teaches diversified skills needed to maintain and renovate commercial and residential properties. Students are taught basic skills in electricity\, carpentry\, plumbing\, heating and air conditioning maintenance. Training also includes painting\, papering\, and tiling. Students acquire skills in appliance repair\, and they receive an introduction to Green Technology and Energy Efficiency in the trades. At Orleans Technical College\, you can earn your Trades Diploma in just 6 or 13 months and take the first step toward an exciting career in Residential and Commercial Electricity. Our career training course is hands-on so that you gain the skills that employers are looking for! \nYou can enter the field prepared to keep the power going and handle service wiring from the ground up in residential\, commercial\, and public establishments. Orleans graduates’ employment opportunities range from electrical installers and troubleshooters\, to maintenance and electrical assistants. \nFinancial aid is available for those who qualify. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to apply. A driver’s license is recommended to travel for jobs post-graduation. \nProgram Objective\nOrleans Tech’s Residential and Commercial Electricity student will be able to design\, install\, troubleshoot\, replace\, upgrade\, and maintain electrical equipment in residential and commercial electrical systems per requirements and guidelines mandated by the National Electrical Code. Students are instructed in the identification\, care\, and proper use of electrical tools and equipment. They learn mathematics for use in the electrical trade.
