We’re Not “New Orleans” We’ve Been Training Trades Professionals for 50 Years!
We’ve heard students and strangers alike reference as us “New Orleans Technical College” and while we enjoy the reference, we’re not new by any stretch of the imagination!
This year, Orleans Technical College, a program of JEVS Human Services, is celebrating 50 years of training skilled trades professionals for rewarding careers. Here’s some OTC history from over the years:
- Orleans Tech opened its doors for business in 1974 as the “JEVS School of Business.”
- In 1976 and 1977, the JEVS School of Trades was licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Trades and three trade programs in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Plumbing and Heating, and Residential and Commercial Electricity were established.
- Our evening school division was added in 1985
- By 2007, due to our growth we moved to 2770 Red Lion Road to better house all our program offerings.
- In 2015, we changed our name from Orleans Technical Institute to Orleans Technical College.
Now, 50 years later, we have six building trades programs and have expanded into healthcare offerings. Students can now train for rewarding healthcare careers in our Clinical Medical Assistant and Practical Nursing programs.
While we’re happy to be thought of as the lively city of New Orleans, Orleans Technical College has been the trade school of choice in Philadelphia for 50 years.
