Orleans Technical College Opens On-Campus Food Pantry for Students
On June 3, 2025, Orleans Technical College (OTC), a program of JEVS Human Services, opened an on-campus food pantry. Funded by the PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant Program, this food pantry will address food insecurity for students. “Orleans Technical College’s commitment to serving our students extends beyond the classroom. By offering an on-campus food pantry, students can have a meal during the morning or lunch hours to help them progress through their day and enhance their educational experience,” said Campus President Rodney Brutton.
The need for this program grew from the staff’s understanding of how hunger impacts students’ ability to stay focused in class. Having a food pantry available will allow OTC to address hunger on our campus and make food more accessible. “Our food pantry will be more than just a resource; it will be a lifeline. It will ensure that no student has to choose between their education and their next meal,” said Debbie Bello, Director of Admissions and Student Services and a member of the Hunger-Free Campus Task Force.
The food pantry will be stocked regularly with perishable and non-perishable items largely donated by our pantry partner, Caring for Friends. Items will also accommodate special diets and food restrictions and be ADA-accessible.
