Orleans Technical College’s New Dean Brings 20 Years of Higher Education and Workforce Development Experience

JEVS Orleans Technical College (OTC) is excited to welcome our new Dean, Dr. Ayanna Washington!

As an advocate for students, education, and career preparation, Dr. Washington has dedicated her career to expanding learning opportunities and connecting education with meaningful career pathways. Most recently, she served as Chief Learning Officer at Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) Philadelphia, overseeing the design, implementation, and management of workforce development programs and guiding the organization’s learning and development strategy. Dr. Washington earned her doctorate in Organizational Leadership, Learning, and Innovation from Wilmington University.

“I am honored and excited to join Orleans Technical College as Dean. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education and workforce development, I look forward to leveraging my expertise and passion for educational excellence to build upon the college’s strong foundation,” shared Dr. Washington.

Dr. Washington began her higher education career as Assistant Director of Admissions at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. She then joined Strayer University as an Admissions Officer in Cary, North Carolina, becoming Campus Director in Chamblee, Georgia, within a year. Over approximately seven and a half years at Strayer, she helped launch five additional campuses in Georgia, Alabama, and New Jersey. Two campuses she led earned university honors: Best Campus for Student Graduation Rates and runner-up for Campus of the Year among 92 campuses. Her community leadership includes serving as Board Vice Chair of Bebashi—Transition to Hope and on the Teach for America Greater Philadelphia Regional Advisory Board.

Dr. Washington added, “I am especially eager to drive program innovation, increase enrollment, strengthen industry partnerships, and enhance student employment outcomes. Collaborating with my dedicated colleagues and staff at OTC and JEVS Human Services, I look forward to advancing the College’s mission, expanding pathways to economic mobility, and positioning Orleans Technical College for continued growth and success,” JEVS Human Service and Orleans Technical College are excited to have Dr. Washington join the OTC team!
