Student Successes in Honor of Black History Month

Orleans Technical College proudly serves individuals from all walks of life who face life challenges, such as the hurdles of unemployment and underemployment. We take a holistic approach to higher education. Our students are not just an ID number; faculty and staff work with each individual to ensure that he/she has a meaningful experience–that extends beyond the training curriculum–that helps the student on a path to a better future.

To this end, we encourage and celebrate student milestones and achievements. One such milestone is seen in the men and women who continue their education to improve the lives for themselves and their families. In recognition of Black History Month, Orleans Tech shares the perspectives of students who’ve worked hard throughout their time of study to achieve their goals, and hone their trade of skill. They have taken advantage of all that Orleans has to offer, accessing career opportunities, mentorship and more. Here’s a highlighting look at three students who have graduated and been successfully hired.

Gerald Hickson – Graduated from the Electrical training program. He was hired by SEPTA.

Jazmine Wright – Graduated from the Building Maintenance training program. She was hired by University City Housing in property maintenance.

Andrew Maddox (aka Doug) – Graduated from the Carpentry training program. He was hired by Life Liberty Builders.
