5 Tips to Prep for the TEAS Test
Are you thinking about enrolling in the Practical Nursing (PN) program at Orleans Technical College? After applying, you’ll be invited to tour our campus and labs and schedule time to take the required TEAS test. We’ve compiled some tips to help you prepare for and ace your test!
1. Make a plan
Ask yourself questions like how long do I have before the test? What topic areas am I most worried about? Etc. Having a plan will keep you on track and more efficient when studying.
2. Don’t cram study
ATI recommends for students to have at least six weeks of preparation and study time. Don’t worry, if you don’t have six weeks, try spacing out your studying over the course of a couple weeks or a few days at the very least.
3. Invest in a practice exam
Not only will you see what types of questions could be on the exam, but you will also familiarize yourself with the question format. You might find it helpful to set a timer so that you can take your practice exam to get a feel for how long you have for each section. You can purchase practice exams on ATI’s website or find them for free online.
4. Practice time management
Since you have a limited amount of time for each section, be sure you use proper time management. Don’t linger too long on a question you don’t know the answer to. You should leave yourself some extra time at the end of the exam so that you can review your answers and make any corrections.
5. Decompress the day before
On the night before the exam, you should resist the urge to study through the night and try to do something fun and relaxing like watching a movie, reading a book or hanging out with friends. Trust in yourself and the preparation you’ve done!
