Post-Secondary Education Leader, Rodney Brutton, Joins Orleans Technical College as Campus President
Orleans Technical College in Northeast Philadelphia is excited to welcome Rodney Brutton to lead our team as Campus President. Brutton brings over 20 years of experience overseeing post-secondary, as well as career & technical education. Most recently, he was head of the New Community Career and Technical Institute in Newark, NJ.
Brutton comes with extensive knowledge related to workforce development initiatives, as well as serving disconnected youth and working adult learners through funding opportunities such as Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Adult Basic Education (ABE).
“Rodney’s proven track record of developing and implementing industry-specific training programs that engage employer partners will be significant assets for JEVS and our flagship training site Orleans Tech,” said John Colborn, Chief Operating Officer of JEVS Human Services, which is the parent organization of Orleans Tech and one of the largest social service organizations in the region offering a wide range of skills training, job readiness and career enhancement opportunities. “His passion for advancing educational and economic opportunity make him a perfect fit for our mission, especially as we work so hard to get Philly back to work during these times.”
Serving the employment needs of Greater Philadelphia since 1974, Orleans Technical College is a post-secondary, nonprofit career school offering short-term (6-month day and 13-month evening) training programs in five in-demand building and construction trades: including A/C Refrigeration and Heating (HVAC), Building Maintenance, Carpentry, Residential & Commercial Electricity, and Plumbing & Heating. Orleans Tech also assists students in starting careers upon graduating. JEVS Employment Specialists facilitate grads’ job searches by surveying the local market and securing job leads. In addition, Orleans Tech nurtures long-term relationships with employer partners that rely on the school and recent grads to fill their hiring needs. Job search assistance continues for every graduate as long as necessary and appropriate.
“I am excited to be a part of such a wonderful organization and join an extremely talented team at Orleans Technical College,” said Brutton. “I am equally pleased to be a part of the school’s next chapter and future growth.”
