Our career training course is hands-on so that you gain the skills that employers are looking for!
You can become a technician or mechanic and manage everyday problems and implement solutions for climate control and energy efficiency. Orleans graduates are employable in a variety of vital positions to install, diagnose, service, and repair air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment—from small units to entire systems.
Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and valid driver’s license—both of which are required by many of the employer partners who hire our graduates.
Program Objective
Orleans Tech’s Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating program teaches the skills required to diagnose, maintain, and repair residential air conditioning and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment. Students learn refrigeration through work with freezers, cold rooms, and ice machines. Federal environmental reclamation and recycling standards are taught. In the air conditioning and heating portion of the course, students are taught current technology relating to central air conditioning and window units, heat pumps, gas and oil-fired furnaces, and related ductwork. Principles of alternative energy are taught through radiant heat.

Employment Opportunities
Graduates are employable in entry-level positions such as air conditioning technicians, refrigeration technicians, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics or helpers, and general maintenance personnel. The College recommends that students take the E.P.A. exam at the completion of training to enhance employment opportunities.

Industry Certification
Students in this program are eligible to receive industry-recognized certification from NOCTI upon successful completion of certification exams. Students will be eligible to earn the OSHA-10 safety certification, which is the construction industry recognized credential. https://www.careersafeonline.com/
Students will have the opportunity for certification testing of Section 608-EPA exam. This is an industry-recognized credential.
